Experience Report
I've taken LSD around nine times, and eight out of nine ended badly. Only my very first trip was genuinely enjoyable. Every trip after that was either 12 hours of pure depression or medieval torture. Looking back, it's probably cause I wasn't in the right headspace to be doing this. The highest dose I ever took was 300µg. For the first four hours it was incredible. I finally understood why people loved LSD and the visuals were absolutely beautiful and unlike anything I'd ever experienced. Then everything fell apart. I became convinced I was trapped inside a horror movie where, by the end of the story, something was going to steal my soul. I repeatedly hallucinated my pockets opening by themselves and watched my belongings fall onto the ground over and over again. The worst moment came during a bus ride. For around twenty minutes I experienced complete ego death while the bus drove in circles. I genuinely believed I had become brain dead. I couldn't form coherent thoughts anymore and felt like a vegetable. I was so thankful when I got out of that loop, later I went to meet up with a bunch of people and with everything I had been through I wasn't really in the mood for any more social interactions so after a bit I left and went home and took some zopiclone to sleep.
Despite how beautiful LSD can be visually, the sheer length of the experience makes bad trips incredibly difficult to endure. Four enjoyable hours followed by ten hours of horror simply isn't worth it for me.
